Eucharistic Prayer of Our Lady of Akita
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist,
I consecrate my body and my soul to be entirely
one with Your Heart
being sacrificed at every instant on all the altars of the world and
giving praise to the Father, pleading
for the coming of His Kingdom.
Please receive this humble offering of myself. Use me as You will
for the glory of the Father and the salvation of souls.
Most holy Mother of God, never let me be separated from Your
Divine Son. Please defend and protect me as Your Special Child.
Amen.
The Meaning of the Akita Messages
On July 6th, 1973, the first apparition of Our Lady to Sister Agnes Sasagawa at Akita Japan, the Blessed Virgin Mary asked Sister Agnes to pray this prayer together with her. This prayer was originally called: "The Prayer of the Handmaids of the Eucharist". Our Lady introduced only three subtle new devotions through her apparitionas at Akita. Two of these new devotions are contained within this prayer.
The first new devotion communicated to the world at Akita, was the use of the term: "Sacred Heart of Jesus truly present in Blessed Sacrament of the Altar". The word "truly" was not used by the Angel at Fatima, nor was it used by Christ in his revelations to St. Faustina. It has been speculated that Our Lady chose this prayer to emphasize the reality of the true sacramental presence of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. The faithful are thus called refer to Jesus as "truly" present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.
The second devotion of note that was newly emphasized at Akita, was also included in this prayer. The soul is called to specifically consecrate itself to be united to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus present in Blessed Sacrament. The Akita apparition calls for souls to identify themselves to be spiritually, and supernaturally united with the sacramental presence of Our Eucharistic Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The faithful are thus called live in conscious spiritual and supernatural union with the Heart of Jesus as it is sacramentally present in the Blessed Sacrament.
The third devotion explicitly ratified at Akita, is the reality of Our Lady as Co-Redemptrix of the Human Race. This was demonstrated by the agonies of sorrow which the Blessed Virgin continued to suffer for the salvation of men, which sorrow is closely related to her sorrow on Calvary. Sister Agnes, endured the painful agonies of the stigmata: specifically in spiritual union with Our Lady who was suffering expressly for the salvation of the human race.
The pain and sorrow expressed by Our Lady of Akita have been interpreted
to demonstrate not only her intimate participation in the Salvation
of the Human Race, but also her integral participation in the redemptive
sacrifice of the Human Race. This was performed when she participated in
a sacrificial union with her Son's agony on Calvary. The faithful are called
to understand that the agonies of Jesus alone did not constitute the fullness
of the sacrificial redemption of the human race. Mary suffered to atone
for the sin of Eve, while Christ suffered to atone for the sin of Adam.
The sins of both Adam and Eve constituted the fullness of the fall
of the Human Race, and the sufferings of both Jesus and Mary
constituted the fullness of the redemption of the human race: which was
accomplished at Calvary.
